I'm getting a free copy of Windows Vista ultimate, so I am thinking of jumping over to DX 10 and getting a 8800 GT. My CPU has 1 MB of L2 Cache, and runs at 2.4 Ghz stock. You guys think this is plenty enough to back up a 8800 GT if I went with one?

They say that even the QX6700s are the bottleneck with the 88GTX. But, you should still get some pretty decent results from your system, especially if you OC it to 2.6 or so. Even at stock though, I think you'll be more than fine.

Whoa, just realized you run 1024x768, yeah I'm sure you'll be more than fine. You should take it up to 1280x1024; there is a lot more desktop space and such, you'll probably hate 1024x768 in a week if you do, I know I did.

I'll more than likely upgrade my monitor.

From 17" to 19" wide screen possibly

I don't know why you like Albatron, Envision and Xion. It sounds like all crap to me. I bought a Seasonic power supply (although next time I might go for Enermax or Fortron), I like Asus, Abit, DFI (not with the current Seasonic though although the new ones I think work with DFI), MSI for motherboards and Sony, NEC, Viewsonic etc for monitors

I also have a socket 754 3700+ and I'm just crossing my fingers it can at least run UT2007 on minimum. Heh, maybe if I get an ATI next generation card I'll get medium. 🙂

I've had this 17" Envision monitor going on 7 years, and never had any problems with it. This Albatron Mobo was $20.00 after mail in rebate, and I've never had one problem with it ever. The Xion was 69.99 with 40 dollar mail in rebate, and it's running my 7600 GTS just fine.

So I bought my PSU, and Mobo for less than your Seasonic PSU more than likely, and it works just fine. I've used plenty of Albatron video cards in builds, and never had one mess up on me.

That 17'' LCD monitor probably has a resolution of 1280x1024 so idk if you really need it

maybe wait for the lower end 8 series? though a 8800GTS would last awhile at the resolution.
