A64 3500+ overclocking potential

I'm planing on buying a new computer (AMD64 3500+, MSI NEO2 Platinum, Crucial Ballistix pc4000 ram). How high should my overclocking plans be? I've read, that it goes up to about 2,55GHz with air cooling, but i've got a high performance watter cooling, so it sohuld go even higher. Please share your experience.

These posts about overclocking are torturing me, because I've been on vacation for over a week now, and my newly built machine is home collecting dust. Anyway, I would start off going for 2400 mHz, and see what kind of performance boost that gets you. This is what I'm going to go for. Then if i feel that i need it, i'll push it to 2500 mHz, if possible. I don't think I'd try to go further, just because the extra few mHz that might be possible aren't worth the extra risk and possible lessening of the longevity of my system.

I have a similar system to the one you are planning on, so i'll definitly post my results once i attempt an overclock (never tried it before in my life!)

 
My 3500+ overclocked nice and stable at 2.4GHz straight out of the box. Have had 2.5 out of it, but that was before I got the OCZ RAM and it wasn't stable (all on stock cooler). I'd be interested to hear how you guys get on so we can compare notes - I'll post again once I've tried my DDR550 RAM...

Tbh I'm happy with 2.4 tho - it's the same clock as the 3800+ so I've already saved a bundle ;-)

I've just tested the water with my new RAM. I achieved 2.5GHz stable though I did have to drop HT down to 4x to keep it stable. I just scraped 2.6 on stock cooling but it quickly fell over - I won't be doing that again in a hurry! lol. Let me know how u guys get on.... ... next stop - custom cooler ;-)

what' the purpose of your overclockin' ? with a geforce3 video card you definetely cannot run any recent game, and for running apps the increased cpu/memory speed will hardly be noticeable at all, and anyway these machines are fast enough for almost any perosnal productivity app.
