A64 3200+ K8V a good combo?

I'm looking to build another system and have decided to go back to AMD. I've heard amazing things about the A64's. I've already had a Barton 2500 and see the new rave is about the mobile Barton 2500, but I'm not sure if that's enough of an upgrade :p

So far, I've tentatively decided on the ASUS K8V Deluxe(3com lan version), A64 3200+,Raptor 74 gig hd,Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2 Special memory with Winbond BH6 chips.

Is this a good compatible setup? I know you can get the best components in the world but sometimes they don't play with each other well.

I also plan on getting an Antec SLK3700 BQE if the 350w p/s is adequate for this system.

If you don't plan on overclocking there shouldn't be any problem with the setup. If you want to overclock you should go with Nforce 3.

Not an extreme overclocker, but I may overclock a little. The KT800 chipset or the Asus mb the holdback?

The main problem of overclocking with the Via chipset is that it has no AGP/Pci lock. Anyway asus is a great mobo.

nForce 3 also has no PCI lock either.

If you plan on Using the SATA lines then that may hold back your overclock as they don't like to take higher then standard PCI clocks.
I have a Albatron K8X800 Pro II with a Athlon64 3000+ ad upped the FSB to 215. Anything over 215 makes the PCI bus 36, instead of the 35 I am running now. My SATA and onboard sound work great.

From what I have read the Chaintech nFoorce 3 is the best overclocker right now and also has the same great soundcard that my Alb. has.

Chaintech has a problem right now with the newer Bios not been able to change memory parameters and save them, anyway it should be fixed with the upcoming Bios that should arrive soon. First Bios works ok for overclocking though but without timing ajusts.
