A64 2gigs of ram and 1T

Hi everyone,

I'd like to know if any A64 motherboard can run w/ 2 - 1gig memory sticks at 1T ?

All the info I find seems to sugest that it will run at 2T..

I was looking at the DFI LanpartyUT (754) mobo and using a single 1gig mem. stick,
so that later I could upgrade to 2gigs w/ a second stick of memory.

I'd be able to utilize the 2gigs of memory because the machine would run RH3.0 & a
large Database.

Thanks for your help/info.

Regards,
Jose

If you value data integrity, use the relaxed RAM timings.

The difference in timings is nothing especially if you REQUIRE 2GB.

After all, if it's unstable, what good is it?

Cheers!

I'd just like to know if this is a limitation of the A64 platform. Like when you put more than 2 mem sticks most boards clock down your memory.

Because one of the benefits of A64 is 64bit memory addressing, right ? Most users would think that you could fully populate a motherboard and not have any slowdown in performance.

Jose

Most 939 or 940 boards will support 1T timings w/ 2 sticks of DS memory, most S754 boards won't although some will if you have high enough quality memory. check out Anandtechs reviews of the motherboards, and it will tell you the best timings they can get w/ good quality memory.
