A64 2800+ temperature

First of all, let me thanks all of you giving advice for me to build me my new A64 platform. Last Sat, I bought the following:

A64 2800+ s754 (AMD box package with heatsink, fan and thermal paste)
Abit KV8 Pro mobo
Corsair 512MB DDR400

I used the µGuru utility that come with the mobo to check the CPU & system temperature and found that it is around 43 & 33C respectively. When I impose some loading on MEPG II capture and BT (under Windows environment at stock speed) at the same time, CPU goes up to 51C (around 75% CPU utilization). So far,I have not check whether the µGuru utility is uptodate and have not used other software like MBM5 to check against the results (I will do it this weekend). However, are these tempearture within the normal range. The room temp is around 20C.

One more point, I once powered on the system and goto the BIOS and found the CPU temp at around 41C.

The build i did at work yesterday was a 2800 socket 754 on a Gigabyte board. temp was 28c idle and went to about 33-35c under load. Our lobby PC at the shop has a 2800 in it, and it runs almost all day every day, sits at about 29c almost all day on a stock amd heatsink.

I have a 2800+ and it runs about 36C full load, and like 33C idle. But then again, I leave the side of my case off and I also have a 120mm case fan and 2 80mm ones.

Your temps are fine, my 2800+ running 500mhz over stock speeds hits 45ish under load. You shouldn't hit 70 ever. Seems to be a nice cool runnning chip.

the CPU temp went up to around 50C with only 1-3% CPU loading after I put the chasis into a corner. Should I get a more effecive heatsink, thermal paste (e.g. AS5) and CPU cooler (i mean fan).

BTW, I have not yet familiarised with the OC utility (Guru) comes with the mobo, it reported the cpu speed at 1836MHz on default setting, is it overclocked on default?
