Yeah, I'd also buy a retina mini right away, would be great for PDF reading.
Too small for that IMO.

I dislike general purpose tablets for PDF reading, but it'd be worse on a small tablet. Text is too small in full page mode. I suppose if you zoom in all the time it's OK though.

So what do you prefer? I have a Kindle DX lying around, and my iPad 3 sure as hell is much better suited for PDFs than the DX with its lo-res display.

Dunno, I run my 15" rMBP at native res and it's just fine (i LOVE having lots of screen real estate).

depends on the page size but text is small on my NOOK HD+ 8.9" screen for say textbook size material. Landscape is fine if you're willing to scroll a lot.

iPad's 4:3 screen is about as good as it gets for PDFs if you're willing to prop that monster up. 😉

What, does your username lie? Are you a wimpy man? 😉

To chime in, I think that retina is inevitable, but not necessarily a true must-have feature on the Mini. Not if it is going to cost them battery life.

I am interested to see them step up the battery life game, now that the MBA13 clocks in at 12 hours.

While I won't be viewing PDFs, my iPad 3 was too big. The mini is a perfect fit, but I've been holding out for the retina Mini.

WSJ: Apple's Next iPad Mini Will Likely Have 'Retina' Display From Samsung

turn, rumor mill, turn! 😀

=( I posted that exact link in this thread this morning.

If Apple don't offer a retina screen, their iPad Mini sales will be eaten up by the Nexus 7.
It's that simple.

Pretty much this. I haven't bought the new Nexus 7 yet because I'm waiting to get the retina Mini for my daughter. There are several people I know in the same situation. If Mini doesn't get retina, I'm picking up N7 for her. I can't see new Mini not having retina.

Yeah. I'm in no rush to get one, but I would like one. I really like the size & weight of the current Mini, but since it's a wishlist item, I can handle waiting for a Retina version. My iPhone, on the other hand - that is definitely a "need" item 😀

It's not a must have for most people, but its a must have for me.

I love the body of the mini. I may settle for the iPad once it gets the new body.
