I'm building a computer from some old parts I have and I've encountered a problem that has just baffled me. See, what happens is that the computer just won't boot from CD. It recognizes it in the BIOS Setup, but that's as far as it goes. I need to boot from CD because the HD is blank and I want to install an OS, in case that needs explaining.
So I tried different CDs (I got an XP pro, my brother's XP home and an old Win98). I tried a different CD Drive. I tried booting with the 6 floppy boot disks you can get from Microsoft's site, and that worked, right up to the point where it needed to continue installing from the CD. Hell, I even tried using different IDE cables. All to no avail. The BOOT order I have messed with as well, right now it's just the CD and no other options.
I did test all the installation CDs in the other drive, in a different computer and they all booted fine.
Right now all I can think of is that there's something wrong with the mobo, but with my luck I probably didn't press the power button or something equaly as stupid. In any case, I need help.
