Read between the lines.

120vAC across the input pins. DUH.

excuse my noobism, but how would i do that?

120vAC is what comes out of a wall outlet. The input pins are the bit that you plug into your computer. They typically recieve low voltage DC - moderate voltage AC like that will DESTROY the circuits (and potentially cause a fire hazard) - if you don't kill yourself doing it.

Pour salt water or metal shavings into it and turn it on (or while it's turned on if you're feeling lucky)

Guys think about this for a moment.

It sounds like this:
His friend wants to cause the monitor to inexplicably fail, because he can only throw a dead monitor off the building...he cannot throw a functional one out. So before he chucks it, he has to make sure that it is NOT functional. But he can't smash in the screen or open it up and rip apart the controller card or whatever. So he needs a discrete way of destroying this poor CRT.

Would making the image really horrible count?

If so, just find a nice, large, unshielded magnet (basically anything more powerful than a fridge magnet) and run it really close to the screen. It'll warp the image, and if you leave it there for more than a short amount of time, it's permanent.

Why?

Thanks for the clarification.

But the OP still sucks at making sense. He should edit his first post to make it more understandable. Add some details and sh!t.
