A way of monitoring loop flow and shutting down a PC if there is a problem

Hello guys and girls,

Do you know of a product that can be connected into a loop, presumably via a flow meter, so that if there is a drop in flow (a leak or blockage), the PC will hard shutdown.

I'm not that bothered about loosing data prior to the hard shutdown, i.e. having a time delay between a problem being sensed and the computer shutting down. My main aim is the safety factor of preventing leaks from killing components.

The only product I have found is this:

It's pretty expensive at £95.00 inc. V.A.T. (or $140), although the added benefit is that the
T-balancer can control the pump speed and the extension set can monitor two flow meters if I have two loops.

Do you guys, know of a cheaper alternative for providing hard-shutdown?

@ Aigo, have you had any experience of using the MCubed T-balance - it is any good?

This is something I would be looking to buy in the future, once I have sorted out the I7 rig.
 
I haven't seen any decent flow meters out yet. Most are fairly restrictive from what i've seen but I haven't looked real hard either. Most pumps though have an RPM wire, can't you just use that to trigger shutdown? Or use the thermal shutdown on the mobo?
 
i monitor my pumps with the RPM sense wire.

Thats why i recomend DDC3.2 if your nervous about your pump dying.

However i have yet to see a D5 die.
 
Ok . I see a problem here . In this post and the Climate control thread. You guys have got to stop thinking made for PC . There are flow meters that have a shut down alarm or shut down signal . Either work. If your PC has a switch LOL on the PC . . simply run alarm or shut down signal to the Switch . when the alarm or shut down signal is sent to the switch it will shutdown . Momentary switches are so cool . That signal works lust like pushing for shutdown. I forgot ya need a 12v relay switch. So the shut down signal gets to the Switch. But when you turn on pc the voltage for shut down or startup doesn't go back to the flow meter.

I like this, but why? the water will shut it down too, did for me anyway. I think I could have done more damage when I tried to re-start not seeing the water. I've had more than one leak and so far not lost any component, have I just been lucky?
If the flow stops and you get an overheat situation the cpu will shut down the system, I had this happen with a "bong" loop and a D5 the pump was at the low point in the loop just making bubbles but still wet enough so that the impeller was wet and lubricated. The pump lived.
