I think old Putin is overstating his authority.

Iraq has been in defiance of UN inspections since 98..So there is no telling what sort of illegal chemical and biological weapons they have stored up.

He's really just saying that we shouldn't do anything by ourselves without the involvement of other nations.

Yeah well Putin has been steadily eroding Russian personal freedoms. He hasn't supported terrorism, per say, but if the "war on terror" expanded to a "war on states moving against democracy" then Russia might be on there

Well, of course it won't happen.

Fact for the day: if the US launched a full-out nuclear attack on Russia, circa 130 Russian warheads (not missiles) would survive.

Or did you mean to say that Afghanistan's the reason the Russians hate us? Yeah, I'd hate us too if I was Russia. Imagine that a country like that could fight the Soviet Union to a standstill (and be a big part in the fall of the Soviet Union) simply because the Americans chose to help them
