I HATE when the ONLY time I hear from someone I haven't talked to in a long time is because they've got a Technical question and I'm their 'Techie' friend.

One funny instance was when I heard from this girl. I had met her years ago when I worked for CompUSA. I basically helped her build her PowerMac system (including me getting her the equipment at cost). I had lost touch with her over the years (cause i've moved around a bit)

Then one day I get an email from her! A friend of a friend had given her my info, color me HAPPY that this cutey was interested in looking me up to see how I was doing!

So I wrote her back, a little chit-chat about how I was doing and how I was no longer doing Mac stuff (that was a test to see if she was just interested in looking me up for tech help). Guess what? The saucy wench never wrote back! Once she found out I don't do Macs anymore, that spun her around right outta town.

FINE by me! Friends like that ain't worth havin.

I'd make her pay with nudie AVI's.

Every 30 seconds of nudie AVI gets her 15 minutes of tech support :)

...providing she's cute :D

yeah somewhat similar story, my xgf called me to asked me for a "favor" if i could help out her roomie who's network card went bad, i was like sure ill help her out, but i wont be free till next week. he he last i heard she had to lug her comp across campus to take it to the univ comp center.

ohh heres another one i just remembered.

my current gf, her roomie fried her computer, pretty bad, beats the hell out of me what she did, she asked my gf if i could PLEASE check it out, well i came by, and when i saw that the comp wouldnt even boot off floopy i told her that it was worst than what i could handle. so now she is SOL. (he he and i dont even like this girl (the roomie) i do like my gf)

last one, a coworker calls me and asked me that her brand new HP computer wont log on to the net. first off i told her not to buy [/b]shit[/b] from BB, then she goes and does it, then i told her not to get MSN, and she goes and does it. well, when she came to ask me i told her, look you have two options, return the computer and buy a real one, or fork over $30 bucks and ill check your computer. she took the computer to BB tech support ha ha

beat mania,

Ahhhh, That's a nice thought.

I got another 'Tech buddie' call yesterday too. It was a user who had left the firm like 3 years ago. We were buddies, but once she left I never really heard from her anymore. Then all of a sudden I hear her voice on the phone. First thing that pops in my head 'Wow, it's nice to hear from her', then the next thing 'Hmmm, I wonder if she wants something'.

After about 5 minutes of exchanging pleasantries, the technical question finally pops up.

Typical.

God that is so true... happens to me too. Relatives, friends, friends of friends, friends of relatives. The worst was this one time I made the mistake of talking this girl out of buying a Gateway, saying "I can build you a better computer for cheaper"... HUGE mistake. For a couple of years I was getting all of her tech support calls. Not to mention her monitor went on the blink and she wanted me to take care of sending it in for warranty repair. I finally had to tell her that she had to handle this stuff herself and I didn't have time to be her tech support service. I've since learned my lesson--now I don't build computers for anyone but myself... MUCH easier that way. For everyone else (even my parents) I give them DELL's phone number.

Tech Buddie rule #1: Let the stupid people buy the bad equipment, eventhough your good hearted nature compells you to tell people not to buy Crap from BB, if you tell them otherwise thell be on your ass for support.

I tell all my friends to buy Macs. First of all, all they will use them for is the internet. Second of all I don't know jack about Macs, nor do I want to.

A friend ended up buying a new computer and asked me to "Make it faster". I went to his house and put his case on his skateboard then left. Not a nice thing to do but I felt better.

I'm tired of it too. Next time a girl asks for help like that, go over to her place to "fix her problem". Her problem being eternal horniness, and the fix being....well, I think you know what the fix is.
