A video I was commissioned to do just went live

Silly Youtube, bits are for kids!

8 minutes to get a 3:30 video. I think they've cut costs a bit - now they've got some old guy typing out binary data Morse-Code-style.

Nifty technology. It looks like something an iPod Touch or iPhone could incorporate, likely just through a software upgrade, if I had to guess.
Very expressive people though. Huh.
When I used my iPod Touch for the first time, my reaction was pretty much, "Wow, neat."
Yes, "wow" with a period, not an exclamation mark. Maybe I'm just jaded. 😀

Also, prepare for a lawsuit from Skype. 😛

Ahhhhhahhaha... this video I also did for the company got "leaked". It's a side by side comparison of Omnia II typing (Swype) vs iPhone. It's actually about a minute long, don't know why it's 26 minutes long with 25 minutes of black

I was on the iPhone in this one. I'm not an iPhone user actually, and I've since gotten better and know I could go much faster than I did there. Though regardless of this you have to consider that it's not a fair comparison. If Swype were on the iPhone with the iPhone's awesome screen, it would be ZOMG fast.

Bump because this video now has 212,000 views 🙂

Considering that I was the iPhone typist, I find the comments quite amusing... like this one:
Thats not even fucking fair, maybe if they got someone who didnt have down syndrome to type on the iphone, they would've probably beaten the "swype".

LOL

There was an app that did this years ago when the iphone came out. I remember using it and thinking it was pretty alright.

This isnt really new, and I don't think it will take off. Nice video though.

i think i saw someone tech demo that swipe style on a google-hosted seminar. the guy was friggin amazing and could use the swipe typing incredibly fast. pretty nifty.

oh yeah, cute rep. wanna hook a brotha up? 😀

lol

Anyway to the product is it faster than texting conventionally? And be honest. If so, ingenius. If not, don't give a sh*t.

Vid quality on movie was good.

Yes it is. Definitely. I did a lot of testing for them over the summer and used it A LOT. There are all sorts of shortcuts and things you can do too, from double lettering, to quickly fixing errors, to being able to add your own words in then Swype them... it's really an awesome system.

Theoretically the iPhone is still a faster keyboard, because it is essentially the same as a real keyboard. I mean if there were someone who had hands that were an inch big, they'd be able to type just as fast on an iPhone as someone could on a keyboard. That being said, I don't think many people come anywhere close to the max iPhone speed just because of the size limitations and the accuracy (though I have seen a video response on youtube where he types extremely f'ing fast on the iPhone... but seriously who does that all the time).

The best thing I can say is just try it out for yourself. You'll see. It's hard to convince people with words about this kind of thing... but it actually works! You'll see, the first phone will be out in early Dec.
