Is there any $200 or cheaper video cards that will last me gaming wise till Vista and DX10 cards come? I want this to be my last DX9 video card upgrade. Chances are I will be buying used that way I can probably get a faster card.

I like gaming at 1280x1024 with most settings on high. I could probably swing a tad bit more if it's worth it.

The 6600GT I had from BFG ran Halo/Counter Strike/Doom3/etc without ANY issues at all. Priced under $200/

Check out the 7600GS. I think they advertised that later models would support Vista stuff, not sure if they followed through. It pretty much matches a 6600gt so can't go wrong if you decide on that.

I def need something better than a 6600GT is I wanna try to play newer games at 1280x1024. BTW it has to be PCI-E.

Your current card is fine for playing at that resolution. Anything under $200 won't net you a significant difference in any case.

I think I've seen 'em for less than $160...

The last gen ATI stuff is pretty good, too. You can get an x800 or x850 pretty cheap right now.

Neither of those cards are going to be a whole lot faster than your 6800GS, though.

i like my ATI X850XT... Runs great. cost me 200$ canadian so thats about 185 or so US. I run battlefield 2 on highest everything with about 80-90 FPS. And as far as Half life 2... it cuts through it like butter since HL2 was optimized for ATI. So if you play CSS or CS 1.6 go with an ATI card.

Don't get a new card for $200. Just keep your 6800gs because the competition for $200 is only a little very little bit better ie. the 7600gt. But if you need an upgrade look for a used 7800gt or something in that region.

Well my goal is to try to run Oblivion at 1280x1024 with most everything on high if possible. Also newer games that may come out this year. My current 6800GS won't do that.

Neither will anything else you can buy for $200 or less.

Edit: Check these Benchmarks.
6800GS: 11.1 fps
7600GT: 14.7 fps
x1800GTO: 16.8 fps

I don't think any card will do that besides an x1900xt, which is alot more than $200. Maybe when dx10 comes out these will be around $200.
