I was at Best Buy when a 40" Samsung caught my eye. The panel was sort of a translucent purple. Odd color. The buttons were just words on that same plastic-ish panel and just activated by touch.

The screen had a semi-reflective material on it: added contrast, minimal reflection. Batman Begins on BD was showing on it. Just amazing. The fluidness. The crispness. You haven't seen HD until you saw it on this TV. At 120Hz; it makes 24 fps seem damn near perfect. Amazing movement when cars flew through the air.

Alas, it was about $2,200 bucks. Totally worth it.

You probably saw this one. It's Samsung's new LCD which is replacing their 71 series line.

And a little FYI, you can get that TV at Amazon for $1850 with free shipping. ;)

Get it, I have the 46", it's quite simply amazing.

I think Sony will be releasing a new Bravia with an LED backlight in the next few months that will probably have better blacks, but it's going to be $$$$$.

Hah, I was so amazed by my 50" LG plasma that I bought it that day!

Um, wait... I researched it for like 2 months.

Definitely look for some reviews on this model and see if it is a great deal and see if there has been any warnings or any early failures on the fancy buttons.
