i know lots of you know what Fry's is.. but some of you have never ever heard of it. It's only available out here in the west coast.. so today.. i went to Fry's to pick up some stuff during lunch.. and i thought might as well give you guys a tour. Fry's is like a big huge electronic heaven. They sell everything from computers to electronics to tv's, vcrs, cameras, even appliances etc.. basically EVERYTHING electronic. The good thing about Fry's is the selection. the BAD thing about Fry's are the idiots that work there. Basically, if you know what you're doing and you know what you want.. then it's PERFECT! but if you're a newbie just shopping, then er.. go somewhere else. The prices are GREAT! but the service sucks.

This is the Fountain Valley store and the theme is roman. Each Fry's has a different theme to it.

I guess the theme in the Sacramento branch is urban, because there are chain-link fences around the registers and cashiers who really take their time ringing up an order.

Thanks for the tour. I've never seen one.

What other themes do Frys have?

The best Fry's in SoCal would have to be the one in City of Industry (toymaker/machinery theme), followed by the one in Anaheim (space station theme). The one in Fountain Valley, Burbank, and Manhattan Beach blow. I never went to the Woodland Hills one tho.

I recently had my first Fry's experience, with the store they just opened in Renton, WA. It is pretty amazing, I have to say, though I will probably stick to Newegg for most PC needs. One thing I found odd was that they sell porn - strange to see guys prowling through double-penetration DVDs in the middle of a mainstream store.

Our Fry's in Wilsonville, OR has no theme... unless "gigantic concrete-floored megastore with lots and lots of aisles" is the theme. :)

woodland hills is 'faily tale' themed, pretty gay (not that there is anything wrong with it)

A couple of years ago my wife commented that Fry's is the perfect place for single geeks:

"They have porn (she'd noticed the covered magazines), Mountain Dew, Beef Jerky, & computer parts."

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The one in Wilsonville, OR has a big sign near the entrance that says (in effect) "no cameras" and people taking pictures "will be prosecuted."

Frys is my toy store :)
