A tough time understanding the difference with these?

I want to buy some ram for my new build and for the life of me I can't understand the difference between all of these? They have the exact same specs on newegg, so I really don't get it. Perhaps timing differences that I can't see?

I want to buy low profile 8gb of ram (will end up with 16 down the road) of low profile Ram. I have a CoolerMaster 430 Elite. I can just barely fit a Hyper 212 cooler on top. I really don't want to run into blocking a ram slot, so I thought low profile was the best way to go. I have read the heat spreaders do barely anything as well.

Would love to get some feedback. Probably will end up buying by midnight tonight.

I am open to any other suggestions you may have.

Thank you

I will tell you the Sniper is NOT low profile... If I went to 4 sticks I would have to bump the fan up on the 212+ to clear it, or grind the heatsink off the RAM to fit under the fan (on my Gigabyte Z68 mATX board.)

...and sometimes stock numbers are different for the same item if there is a rebate or discount attached to a specific product (like your example Corsair XMS3)

For me, I would get the $39 item... and skip all that nonsense to get a $10 rebate.

Voltages are different.

Corsair XMS3=1.65v
Corsair vengeance = 1.5v
G.skill sniper = 1.25v

For sandy bridge CPU's 1.5v is ideal, the 1.65v wont do any damage but i would avoid it. I dont know about the 1.25v stuff, should be fine looking at the reviews. I would get the G skill although saving $5 on the vengeance is also a good choice.

Strange. I checked the xms3 ones and the second one is 1.5volts. The first that has the rebate is 1.65 volts.

should I go for the vengeance our the second xms3? Is there even a difference? Minus the name?

Either should be just fine. I got the Vengeance 9-9-9-24 low-profile for my second 8 GB set and it works perfectly with my 8-8-8-24 original Vengeance set. Just set the BIOS to run CAS9 across the board. Super easy upgrade this time 🙂
