Ahh My Bx6-2 will be forever missed lol.....I've ran a 366@550, p3 500, c600@933, and a p3 1ghz on that board with an ata100 card and 512mb of ram, ran so solid! Stability at it's greatest. i have a Asus P4b266-c, pretty stable also. BX440 good job!

I'm typing this from a PII-350 on a crappy OEM Biostar board using the 440BX chipset, but near as I can tell (I've checked the BIOS and mobo manual) there's absolutely no way to OC this thing (though my clock speed has mysteriously risen from 350 to 361 to 366 can't quite figure that out). In any case, this computer is over 4 years old and still going strong.

440BX, We salute you!

My BH6 Celery 464 is still running strong for my parents. What a combo.

Using my Asus P3B-F with a 1330Mhz Celeron 1A to type this. Now, when will we see socket 478 to Slot 1 converters? ;)

ME TOO! I still have my BX6 rev 2.0 and it's going strong...only I have a Celeron 400 in there. When I get home this week I'm going to pop my 600E@800 back in there, or maybe my 1GHz, and let 'er rip! It may not be my primary rig, but I have a deep respect for that board...

Well, I have to agree that the 440BX was a nice and stable chipset, I'll stop short of throwing praise on something that simply worked like it should. ;)

My PII 400 running a 440bx is sitting right here beside me..

Its been my primary system for 3.5 years now.. And 99% of my AT post have been made via this chipset..

Right now my system is stable as I have ever seen a system.. the only thing that can crash it is half-life

(Running XP btw)

All hail the king of chipsets.. the 440BX!

440BX @ 133 also owned.. OWNED RAMBUS :)

Like many have said, the bx is still around, and will remain around. Many still use it, including myself. Running my P3B-F at 150mhz fsb, and I bet it could go higher if the bios would let me :)

Good ole BX :)

My Asus P2B is still working fine, definately one of the best mobos ever made, using one of the best(if not THE best) chipsets ever made.

I am still running an Abit BE6-II in my 2nd PC, with a P3 Coppermine. Great little setup! I still have my 300A lying around somewhere but the BH6 has been sold...

BX was a fantastic chipset, I think the AMD-761 is too though.

BH6, 300A@464Mhz, Voodoo2 SLI - Quake 2 @ 1024x768, 60FPS!!! :D

I just finally retired my Abit BH6 rev. 1.0 just the other day. I had a 1.1ghz P3 in it with a GeForce 3 and 768 megs of ram. It was awesome. Literally, there ins't a game out that it couldn't run @ 60fps or higher. The only reason I retired it was because the motherboard actually died on me. But it has been overclocked since day one... and that's a LONG TIME. It had a Celery 300mhz @ 450mhz, then a Celery 2 566mhz @ 950mhz, then a P3 1.1ghz @ 1364mhz.

Simply put.

BEST

MOTHERBOARD

EVER!

What ever happened to AOpen? The used to be great, but when the BX went out they went right into the crapper.

I've got two 440BX boards running strong. The first, an Abit BH6 & PIII-650 is going w/ my daughter to college this fall. It's running Win98SE, as the school she's going to wants either 98SE or XP Pro. This board has been a trooper since it's original install w/ a PII-300 that was actually a PII-450.

My second BX box is a recent build, w/ spare parts I've accumulated via other people's upgrades. It's a Soyo board, running a PII-350 and four sticks of 64MB SDRAM. Not a problem since install.

Still have a BX running strong! I have the classic Abit BH6 with a Celeron 1G running 1.12 GHz. This is my 7 Year old Girls PC. I've also owned an Abit BX6, Asus P2B and Asus P3B-F. All great boards.

For those who went on the AMD bandwagon after the BX and haven't used anything newer, the 815/845/850's are every bit as good or better. The 845/850's have features that I would have killed for on the BX such as PCI/AGP lock, adjustable VDimm and AGP voltage, etc. The i8xx boards are every bit as stable as a BX and then some.

Still there is something about the BX....maybe because it was the first board with 100 MHz FSB, mad overclockability, non socket 7 design??

I originally had the 1st rev. of BX6, but traded with a friend, to gain an extra PCI slot. I'm still using the ABIT BX6 2.0, now with Powerleaps converter, fitted with a Celeron2 1300 :) (previously PII-400)

That makes a great 2nd computer, which I use for seti/ftp/webserver.

Dont think I'll ever get rid of that system, just works so great :p

Asus P3B-F = one of the most rock solid motherboards, EVER!

I built 14 PC's based on that motherboard and they are still going just as strong as they did when the board first came out.

Hardware:

Asus P3B-F
PIII 500E
128MB PC100 RAM
10GB IBM
ATI Rage+ 8MB
SoundBlaster 128
250W Mid Tower
15" Daytek Monitor

What a rock solid platform... I did not have a single problem and as I said, they are still running great, just a few need a fresh install of the OS = user problem and/or MS's OS.

Hmmm... My primary PC is still a BX Win XP Asus P2B. Celeron 533A@880 (runs fine > 900). Radeon, CD-RW, Firewire, scanner, DVD-RAM/-R, etc.

I don't plan on upgrading until 2003. I have a P4 1.6 at work and it "feels" slower because I have useless parallel port devices hooked up to it.

Heh. If it makes you feel better, your system is better than my 5 Year old girls PC.

My BX6-2 still serves me well as my mp3/divx system in my living room. I probably won't be getting rid of it anytime in the forseeable future as it plays everything fine and more importantly, it's quiet! It's withstood the test of time, went thru 3 processors on it (pII 333, Celeron 333@415, and finally a pIII 600@800).
