I am an early adopter, no matter how buggy a device is. That's what makes technology fun! When you get in early, you get to appreciate the breakthroughs that will be made in the future. I best experienced this with the Casio BE-300. HORRIBLE DEVICE! But there was a huge community that helped turn it into a Windows CE workhorse and helped create amazing features.

And I forgot to mention, how long before a community of hackers gets together and makes a custom firmware for the Zune? That would be a BLAST to be a part of!

Agreed!

Any purchase of a Zune is a vote for DRM. Get out there and vote!!! Are you guys nuts?

Think before you buy. Vote with your wallet.

Apple isn't paying Universal Studios a fee for every iPod sold because it might be used for playing pirated videos, though. I love being treated like criminal before I've done anything wrong, don't you?

Microsoft deserves all the bad press that it's getting for caving into the MPAA's and RIAA's demands so easily.

Without caving, they had no product. Universial wasnt budging and MS needed Universial because they control 1/3 of the worlds music.

Well, I was given Zune as a gift over Thanksgiving. The player itself is slick IMHO. I havent experience any software problems. However, after spending a hour and a half on tech support, its determined that my school is way to overzealous on blocking ports to prevent people from downloading illegal material. Yeah I cant log in and Im pissed.

You're not the only one thinking that way, it just seems that either Microsoft is playing pony to the media companies to get them to trust the software giant or the media companies have the software giant by the balls...I think Steve jobs success with the iPod is mainly due to the fact that he's a smooth talker and the iPod snuck up on everything else, one thing is certain the zune is a model for how not to release cripple ware...but MSFT has show a pertinacity to learn from mistakes and build success out of them (XBOX vs. XBOX 360)

My 2 cents...

they already said there is a good chance that the zune will get a cell phone added to it later on to make calls to go against the upcoming iphone.
also what makes the zune unscratchable?
