A thank you to our Lan Party sponsors!!

Hello, I just wanted to get the word out on our sponsors because they have been so loyal to helping our Lan Organization!

Thank you to: Newegg, Crucial, Thermaltake, Razer Mouse, Nyko, Nvidia, Alienware, Gamefly, Mix 103, and Wendys!!

They always sponsor our lan party and are extremely dedicated.

You can see our sponsors for our past events as well here:

http://www.tigerlan.org/index.php?content=sponsors

pictures will be posted on our site tonight hopefully. We are getting them organized.

Thank you for your time.

cool, how much are you paying anand to advertise here for them?

--clarafication--

My point is in essence you're advertising on these forums for your sponsers without paying anything to the forum's owners. It's like poorly hidden spam. That's why I asked how much you were paying anand to find out if you were paying to advertise here or not.

Now if your LAN parties were exclusive ATOT events then I wouldn't see so much of a problem. But in this case it's for your gain in the form of further sponsership due to spamming the forum. But I do know many companies do not advocate spamming in their name.

Haha no one paid me....but thanks for the thread crapping / flaming. An honest thank you doesn't seem to go very far even when its rare these days.

I disagree with you. In your opinion, if its anything positive about a company, it is considered spam, or in this case, "poorly hidden spam". My question to you is when can you recommend someone or some company that did something good for you? Or is AT only used for crapping on others?

As to your other point, gaining further sponsorships. Do you really think I care about spamming forums? if I wanted to do this, I'd be on every single forum out there spamming there. Besides, these companies are large and well known brands and have no need to do cheap sales tactics and spam attacks. Its not my goal either even if they did. If a sponsor wishes for me to promote them, they can continue in backing up our LanParties. Do you really think big companies such as these are into junk mail and web spam? I am here to say an honest thank you and yes, give an honest recommendation. Not because I want them to sponsor us, not because they want me to promote them. Its because I REALLY think these companies earned the credit for their effort. Credit as in recognition for their appreciation of loyalty to their customers. If you can't see it, that's a different story.

How can you show recognition for a sponsor without automatically raising the spam flag? if you can answer this, be my guest. I'll gladly take your advice if you have a better idea.

Well for one thing you don't post here often. So you just decide to make another thread to specifically thank your sponsers? Without announcing the event so that other members might want to actually participate?

Another thing the title of your entire thread is "A thank you to our Lan Party sponsors!!". Now if you wanted to make a post, not just a link mind you, about how well your party went, what you did. Then posted a link. Without a mention about your sponsers. That would be better. Flash their names all over the front of your website so it's the first thing a person sees when they visit it.

As far as I'm concerned this is barely one step above a "Get a FREE Ipod" thread.

See those banners at the top of the page? People paid to have it there. You should also.

Again, you didn't answer my question. I'm not here to talk about our Lan Party, I'm not here to advertise it either. I am here to appreciate companies that did a good job. So again, my question is HOW do you make a recommendation or show recognition for someone who treated you well, as an AT user? Without being accused for spam, Without being compared to a cheesy "Free Ipod" thread?

Or are you saying people cannot express themselves on AT when it comes to recognition? God forbid it might make a company look good, because they are (or are not, if you disagree, and you can do that if you wish. I'm not stopping you) Where do you draw the line?

Geeze they must not be teaching college kids as well these days:roll:

I'm repeating myself because I already answered your question. Do it on your site, dirty up your front page. Say "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ..." So when you link to your sites front page in the hypothetical thread. The firs thing the person would see is your thanks.

Why would we care who donated what to your site? Keep it on your site where it's relevent to the people that actually care and who got something out of your sponership.

There's a big difference between one person saying "ASUS rocks, I sent in a bad mobo and they sent me a replacement in no time!" versus an "organization" (I think they should make it harder to give out .org names) receiving free goods and services and said organization advertising (which is what you are doing no matter what you tell yourself) the sponsers on a very large message board.
