A Tabbed front-end for Internet Explorer?

If you're using a tabbed front-end for IE or know of any, please reply!

A search turned up a nice, tabbed front-end for IE called http://www.avantbrowser.com/. I also remember using a pretty nice one over a year ago, but don't recall what it was called anymore. Anyways, each seem to have its advantages and disadvantages, so it's a matter of finding out about all the decent ones and narrowing it down from there. 🙂

i read up on avant last night. looks good. Also there is crazy browser or something.

I've pretty much switched from IE to Firebird.

Gonna try Firebird, hopefully it can be better than both the cr*p thrown at me by Opera and IE (5 and 6).

Opera (I have 7.10, with memory leak), just stopped me doing backspace or delete, the previous URL's thingy doesn't wanna work properly, and it doesn't like saving usernames/passwords.
I'm only forced to use it because I didn't know of anything else to try, and IE5 and 6 both get really slow and use up ~100% CPU whenever I go on anandtech.com or the forums (not managed to find ANY other pages so far that have the same problems, and IE6 worked fine before I reinstalled Win 2k).

Did you change the cache settings to stop the memory problem with Opera? It takes up a max of 30mb for me, when opening ~10 pages.

Firebird is great. It's simple, fast, powerful, and it has support for tons of plug-ins (extensions) that add features and functionality.

I've been using it since Phoenix (0.5) came out, on all my machines. 0.6 (Firebird) is even better 🙂

Confused

I was using Mozilla up until last week. Firebird/Phoenix seemed to lack a lot of features that I wanted... that is until I found all the extensions that put the functionality back into the browser. There's basically a plug-in for just about everything you could want. 🙂

i found the mozilla and firebird builds a lot rougher than opera. The UI just seems more fluid in opera....mozilla has promise, but it don't think its up there yet

I use Firebird most of the time (the new flash extension is awesome - killing all nasty flash ads). But if you're specifically looking for a front-end for IE, I'd suggest you try MyIE. I have to use IE-enabled browser since some of banking websites are too ignorant only allowing IE-specific browsers. I've tried crazy browser, avant browser & MyIE but MyIE get my vote among the three.

Doesn't myIE2 come bundled with adware/spyware? Confirmation anyone?

Why not just get a browser with the required functionality built-in natively?? *cough*Firebird*cough*

<nods vigorously>

My girlfriend liked Firebird so much on my PC she requested it for her own computer. I stress requested, because I didn't even have try to tell her why it's the best thing since sliced bread, because usually she tunes me out as soon as I talk about computers. 😉 So it *must* be good if she requested it on her own...

I can't follow this logic. Opera's is the black sheep among browser UI's. I can use IE, mozilla/netscape/firebird, galeon, konquerer, camino, safari, etc... and figure them out in 30 seconds because they all have very similar UIs. And then there's Opera...

This doesn't mean Opera isn't good, I just think that it's UI is drastically different than the norm...for better or worse.

I used to swear by Opera, infact it was my browser of choice for well over a year before I found Firebird. I felt it was much better than IE or Mozilla but it feels that lately the software has got to be much too bloaty and buggy, the other thorn in its side is obviously you've gotta pay for it. It just doesn't seem to appeal anymore.

never tried firebird but i personally like netcaptor. I uses IE's favorates (a must), has tabs, and has an integrated popup blocker - everything you need.

Firebird does all that and much more, plus doesn't suffer from IE's weekly security exploits and comes in at 7 mb as opposed to IE's like 60+.
