It's ridiculous, I tell ya... :(

Anyway, perhaps an 'HT'-mod would be a good idea? Certain users who have proven to be reliable and with a good judgement could moderate HT.

Just an idea...

My point was merely to point out that there are some complaints with the recent increase of OT posts in the HT forums, maybe prompting the mods to further action.

Im not sure if I understand what issues you have ctho?

Personally I gave up visiting HT a few weeks ago, at this point there are only occasionaly any questions/discussions that are any different then what you'd see in GH.

Once a week or so you'll see a post that belongs in HT, other then that it is for all intents and purposes and exact duplicate of GH. Kinda sad really because I had high hopes for HT, and visited it constantly during it's early days.

I'd vote for having a Moderator specifically for HT....the odds of that happeneing are likely minimal however.

i wasn't thinking and interpreted it as if you wanted that thread locked. sorry ;) yeah, it would be nice for the mods to take a look at the comments in that thread.

You KNOW it is getting out of control when Rand posts an off-topic in Highly Technical.

:D

Perhaps the Moderators have stopped reading Forum Issues (or don't really know what belongs in HT).

No, we read both of those forums. On the other hand, we are also limited in our overall amount of time we can contribute, and can't be reading the forums all the time.

I'll strike a deal with you. Write up what you consider to be a sufficient sticky-thread, and post it in HT, to help new users determine whether or not their post belongs. If they post OT, DO NOT ANSWER THEIR QUESTION. Tell them where to repost it. If I come across a thread that needs to be moved, I will move it. Sound fair?

Yup, that's a pretty fair sound :p

It still sounds like a bit of a hassle though... perhaps a seperate moderator (or moderators) for HT wouldn't be such a bad idea after all? Or is it dificult to implement?

<< Or is it dificult to implement? >>

Unfortunately, it is rather hard to just implement more moderators. There are few moderators as is, and the addition of more is not something taken lightly.

Perhaps I didn't put this very well.

Anyway, yes - it is totally fair that the members that frequent HT should help the moderators keep it ON-topic.

I am certainly not the "expert" you want to write the "sticky-thread" as much of what is said there goes over my head (even though I DO read it).

I figure if I easily understand what is being discussed - it doesn't belong there. ;)
