A stupid question When is Lost fragment?

hello when you pc reboot due to instability win2k scan the hard drive for consistancy and in one case it found errors and recover lost fragment. my question when it found errors does it repair it and what is lost fragment ?

fragments are pieces of files basically.. read a tutorial on defrager for the whole story .. as far as scandisk fixing errors, ya sometimes, it can fix things like if the dates on the files are off, or if other small things are wrong with it, a lost fragment is jus that, its gone, part of the file/files is gone .. well good luck ..

it could also be a part of a file that you were working on and was not fully written to disk you may be able to restore it.
