A movie like that would be great, unlike the 90s looking 100% CGI they currently make
Lightsabers, The Force, Jar Jar's tongue, rough, tough battle droids that say "get back to work" in a silly voice, and Darth Emo - how much "realism" are you hoping for?Originally posted by: destrekor

some movies pull of amazing CGI. Others, do not. Star Wars is notable, but other than the story, the Star Wars series is pretty craptacular. Don't get me wrong, I love the movies... but it's one of the few movies I just want to tear apart. Acting tends to be bland because Lucas sucks at pulling believable performances out of his actors. When Lucas has a hand in a movie but isn't the one directing, it can turn out good. Especially if Speilberg is at the helm. Then again, that alone could be the reason its good and Lucas is just there to provide access to ILM and make sure it lives up to THX standards.
acting is bad, and while the CGI can be good at times, making pretty much entire scenes CGI removes the realism.
ILM shines when it only needs to do effects and characters. Look to Transformers for that proof. But an entire scene rendered to look real? It ends up not being pulled off well. At least, looking to Episodes I, II, and III. Meanwhile, IV, V, and VI were more believable due to the fact that they were grounded in reality with the set and scene designs. They went a little too far.
But when a movie is CGI and obviously keeps to the animated style, they continue to look better and better. Pixar proves this. They're movies look gorgeous and couldn't be pulled off in the 90s (at least, the ones that were released recently, and not the ones that actually were in the 90s).
I love Lucas, but keep him out of the director's chair please. His ideas are grand, his talent... hehheh.
