I doubt there is one, because religion is at the heart of the matter. Marriage is a religious institution that's been recognized by the state. Now a few people want to change the definition of marriage to legitimize a chosen (and high risk) behavior, even though that behavior is condemned by most religions, and not practiced by the vast majority of the population.
