A Stainless Steel case would be cool :/

I don't mean literally; but the nice modern, solid look of stainless steel would look good on a computer case, stainless steel and black go good together. Couldn't find any in existance though. Just partial or ugly ones, and industrial mainframe ones. :|

I'm talking about the outside panels and appearance (please don't bring up cooling capabilities of stainless steel

Any more than a regular steel case? Regular steel cases are light; it's the components that will make a computer heavy.

Stainless Steel alloys, which contain Chromium and Nickel, are terrible when it comes to thermal compatibility with computer systems.
Stainless holds the heat at the source, and moves the heat away very slowly (Titanium is even worse) - this is why they are used as
firewalls in aircraft systems - they hold heat back. Good way to make sure your computer system always runs hot.

I doubt the outside case metal itself is the primary cooling factor, that's what airflow is for. The airflow in my PC is good enough so that some SS panels on the outside aren't going to melt the CPU.

Well - if the heat has a tendency to stay in one place youd get annoying things like hot side panels that hurt when you touched them. Hot spots around the CPU, hard drives and video card would do nothing but increase temperature. And since youd be paying a premium for a cool-looking stainless case anyway I would assume mose manufacturers would just as soon go with aluminum.

The reason aluminum cases are expensive is because of the limited number of manufacturers making them... apparently the equipment needed to build them is different. I think you'll see more "stainless" looking aluminum cases if a major mfr. like Dell or Hp starts using them.

my old steel case with good airflow is much cooler than my new lian li with stock cooling.. so the airflow is what makes the difference

Um, did you guys not read this? Its obvious he's not talking about actually using stanless steel. He just likes the look of it. Also it shouldn't be any worse than a normal steel case as long as you have good airflow.
