Escaped, was given to the Cranogmen (sp?) to hide him during the troubles. If i remember correctly, he doesn't appear at all in the latest tome/book.
This is probably what GRRM intented to do when he was talking about fast-forwarding 5 years : stash your characters somewhere safe and go on. I remember GRRM saying that writing from the view point of a 5 years child was driving him crazy and he wanted to limit it as much as possible :)

I really enjoyed his books, however his tendency to take a bit too much time inbetween is becoming somewhat irritating. Now I need to re-read the previous three to remember everything.

I really appreciated his first book where magic was essentially non-existent except for a few subtle occasions; kind of reminded me like Tom Clancy of the fantasy world. Anyhow I don't know if I like the addition of more and more magic, but he has done a good job thus far.

New fantasy series rule:

You cannot publish a book in a series unless they're all finished.

At this rate it will be another 10+ years before we see the final 3 books- if he lives that long.

Don't worry, we'll program his brain into a computer and it'll write the books for us! Only faster!

Yea, it is really taking forever. I hope it's worth the wait.

Meanwhile, does anyone have any books that they recommend reading during the wait. I don't want to read Jordan or Goodkind.

Try the Chung Kao series by David Wingrove. More Sci Fi less fantasy but I still liked it. Best of all, the series is already complete.

Yep- Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, then Liveship Trader Trilogy, and then Tawny Man Trilogy.

GRR recommends her- she's similar to George stylistically, and it's really interesting stuff.

Just a bump for an update on his website. Makes no mention of A Song if Ice an Fire at all. No updates, but bump for more discussion.

How is that series? What's it like and is it 'epic'?

The series is pretty good. More realistic with the flaws in characters and such, although the ending didn't satisfy me. To me at least, it started out epic, and then while it seemed to spread and grow, it also thinned.
