Here's the command I put in the Win98SE Task Sceduler to shutdown my PC:
In the Run box:
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System\User.exe,ExitWindows
Is there anyway we could do the same thing, but for startup instead of shutdown? That would be fantastic if every morning I woke up and my computer was already on.
This is kinda on the same topic but is there an updated version of the task scheduler? Mine stopped working for some reason. i use to use it to run scandisk and defrag late at night but it just stopped doing it.
I will give the shutdown thing a shot to see if it works.

Thanks! Might give that a shot! But how about a start up thing? Is there anyway of doing that too? I dought it cause nothing is on... How about putting computer into standby and then waking it up automatically? Is there a way you could do that?
some Bios's support this.
Have another computer use WOL to wake it.
or I had a UPS that will start up the computer but I don't recall that I'll be able to do that with the ATX power supply.
i heard u can wake up the PC doing WOL..and base on my limited research so far..its using nic card and have 2nd PC to wake up the first PC..thats all i know so far.
but be nice to have PC to turn on itself morning about the same time u wake up. i wish future BIOS would just include this feature.
Does anyone know a way to get 2000 to shutdown as well? I have my Linux machine wake my PC in my room every morning via WOL (easier to change the time via Telent then it is to reboot 🙂. Now a shutdown every night would be nice. A program that could be run and told "Shutdown in 30 mins" would be even better.
Anyone know I get get Windows98 to shutdown when I shut it down manually? My system just restarts instead of shutting down... don't have this problem in Win2k though.
