A small wallwart for my dlink pocket router is now making a noticable hissing noise. Almost sounds like a tiny little fan turns on when I plug it in, but there is obviously no fan.

Should i be worried?

This is a total thread crap. The only reason I'm telling you this is because my reply was going to be "RUN, RUN FAR WAY".

My co-work has an autistic son who has a tendency to do some funny/strange things sometimes. She was telling a story today about how he loves war games like COD4 and his dad has purchased some play war gear for him. She said they were watching TV and all the sudden this grenade came rolling across the floor while they were watching TV one night and there was no one there. It scared the crap out of them at first until they realized he was sitting outside the room and threw a fake grenade into the room. He?s like 10 and acts things out.

Ok, I?m done :D I found it amusing.

Does it make this noise when the router is connected and powered up? Some switching mode power supplies will make a hissing noise if there is no load on their output terminals.

I read that as a small Walmart was missing. Not quite sure what to make of that...

Anybody creeped out at the idea of encouraging socially disconnected autistic children to play wargames?

Something's not right there somehow.

No way. Give him bionic implants and we can make them super soldiers.

That was a very touching video. I used to work as a aide for special needs children at a local elementary school and could see glimpses of what I just saw in this video. It makes you feel good when you can see there is a "light at the end of the tunnel" for autistic children. technology today is providing a path of communication that frustrated most autistic children and with hope we should be seeing more of this in the future. the only thing that can hold these children back is the lack of funding for schools to purchase the equipment needed in order to get the best therapy possible.
