I now have linux running better than I had windows running. Linux is doing everything that windows did for me.
I am proud to say that I have a great linux box for office apps and gaming. I have doom 3, unreal tournament 2004. running great no lag nothing but pear performance gaming.

For the most part linux is free. If you buy a distro version then you get proprietary apps that are not bundled with the free download versions. However there are some distros that have some extra stuff already in it. I suggest http://www.pclinuxonline.com Try it. It is a live cd (you don't have to installit, but you can. Just boot to the cd and run it to see if your hardware is supported).

It isn't annoying as it used to be with apt-get and synoptic it is very friendly. True some hardware isn't supported or is hard to work with, but it is a lot better than it used to be. I have been playing with Linux since Redhat 5.0 and believe me it has matured very nicely.

I am using linux red hat fedora 4. I play all the games i played on windows and I have more access to apps well sorta. Just gotta recompile python.
Opengl doesnt look as good as direct X though. Opengl seems blurry to me.

😱

That was me.

<sniff>

Switching was a pain in the butt, I kenw nothing of linux and still dont know anything. The more softtware and apps that I use the more I learn. I am probably going to go buy RF4 so I can have my hands on a manual.

whats pear performance gaming???

still, gaming is meant for windows xp....so.....im sticking with windows...its been ok for me.

Ooops typo, linux doesn't have a ton of games ported. But the ones that are ported run better than windows.
