A simple question about W2K upgrade that you've probably answered before

I've done a search but didn't come up with anything.

Will the W2K Upgrade version install as a dual-boot with Win98? (I'm not interested in converting Win98 to 2K)

If at some point in the future I decide to ditch 98, Will W2K Upgrade be able to install onto an empty harddrive (asking for the Win98 CD maybe?)

If the above answers are 'yes', why is the W2K full version so much more expensive?

1. I don't know for sure,I have the full ver. See if complete install is an option when you run the CD.
2. If #1 works I would guess that would also be an option.

I think to use the W2K upgrade you need a version of NT4 already installed on your computer. Just like the Win98SE upgrade looks for a version of Win95 or 98 before it installs. If you don't have the OS installed, usually you can just insert the NT4 CDROM and the install program will check it for the required files. Check out the MS W2K site, it'll list what OS you need to have to use the upgrade, otherwise you're stuck shelling out for the full version.

Thanks for the replies so far. It looks like the Full version is more desirable.

There are two upgrade versions of W2000Pro - one for NT and another for 95/98. The NT upgrade goes for around £95 over here, while the 95/98 version is around £170. Lowest price I've seen the Full version for is £240. Ouch.
