Hello, i have looked all over the internet trying figure this out but every phrase i use just turns up unrelated results so i decided to ask here...

what am looking for is pretty simple really, just a simple software that does one thing and one thing only and that is a big button that let me know when am in another location if it have been clicked,,,,,

nothing fancy, just a "click" on one computer and then "poof", a messenge saying it have been pushed on the other computer...

just a simple "single-tap zero character communication tool" like "YO" just that is for windows and not phones....

I'm not sure I understand what you want.

A button that, when you press it, a message appears on another computer saying, "hey, this button was pressed"?

How far apart are the computers?

over the internet ofc, just like the "yo!" app except it's for pc so when someone needs my attention they can just click something to let me know am needed,

alternatively, something that sends just a mail instead would work as well i guess, as long it's literally idiot proof, i mean, how can someone mess up clicking a button?

i know there's possible to use other means of communications, but many times doing stuff digitally is less optimal then FTF so i just want something simple that people can use to tell me they got something to say to me and i should stop by, even if they are the worst people EVER with tech.....

I don't see why email, text, instant messaging, telephone calls, etc don't meet this need. Literally any communication tool that exists will do this and more, whatever the user is comfortable with is what they can use.

With pushbullet in firefox I can send a message to another linked PC using one click (plus the actual text of the message followed by Enter). It takes two clicks if you need to select the machine from the list but it only takes one click total if you set it up previously since it remembers the last device you sent a message to.

There is an api for pushbullet but there is very poor documentation, no examples, etc so I never got into it. But I know it uses curl so it would be trivial to map the commands to a hello world type single button dialog app once you know what commands you want to send.

Honestly, OP just wants an IM client. I don't see how a button "PAGER" is necessary at all.

The difference between pager and paging is also why OP couldn't find what they wanted in a search. And OP acting like they were in their second post:

And in light of a fairly basic misunderstanding (working IT (assumption based on posts in this thread) and couldn't realize why paging was giving such different results) simply doesn't bode well for the people they're supposed to be helping.

Trillian offers a server and you can use that as a paging system.

I use Trillian on my PC and phone.
