a serious question, how does being overweight feel?

I think it depends on how overweight you are, these might be symptoms of obesity, but carrying an extra 10lb won't cause these symptoms.

It definitely sucks. I am going to the gym a lot, and the shortness of breath and stuff is going away fast. the main issue that I have overcome is stamina nad lung capacity. with the erg, I was pretty crappy at first. I wasn't breathing efficiency and ttherefore got exhausted quickly. In addition, when I was breathing correctly, my stamina was pretty weak, only allowing me to sustain a max of 5/8 of my full speed throughout the time trial.

the fact that I can now carry a bunch of pressure treated 16ft 2x4's without breakign a sweat isn't bad either😉

well since college ive started upping the points, maybe 35lbs overweight now.. and starting to get symptoms like this. ive seen my physicians and gotten a clean bill of health, thinking maybe the pudge is starting to get to me 🙁

the more depressed you get about being overweight the more the symptoms seems to "show". Once you get past the depression and enjoy exercising again you will find the breathing to be back to normal and be able to sustain the regiment longer and thus drop the poundage. Learn just not to think about it, yet deal with it, and the symtoms will dissapear.

I don't feel any of those symptoms. Does that mean that I am at my ideal weight at 275 pounds? (I really want to get down to about 220 to 230, as that's what I weighted back in High School when I was swimming 6K yards daily.)

... no; if you are feeling that way all the time, you've got issues beyond being overweight.

i am a diagnosed hypochondriac with generalized anxiety disorder as well.. which has been the dr's explanation thus far.

I know one thing it has done to me and that is sleep apnea which is a very dangerous sleep disorder. Basically your throat closes off and you can't get the needed oxygen. This entails not going into the deeper realms of sleep, putting amazing strain on your heart, and lengths of not breathing. I now have a machine that forces air into my lungs as I sleep.

yes, i see either or both of those causing the above symptoms much more than being overweight, by itself.

back problems are a valid concern of those that are overweight, but the other three don't necessarily apply to all people that are overweight.
