That we should have UN approval before proceeding. I still feel the same way now.

I don't remember what it was in 98 but right after the Gulf War I thought we really screwed the pooch by not finishing the job and furthermore I thought we were cowards (Well Bush was) when we betrayed those Iraqi's we promised to support with the overthrow of Hussiens regime.

Unfortunately yes. My excuse is I was to busy enjoying the economic prosperity we had at the time to worry to much about Iraq.

Eh, what? I took no pride in it, I'm just curious why those who are shouting so loudly against attacking Iraq no said little or nothing when it was done 5 years ago.

Probably because we weren't sending troops in mass to Iraq and that the economic burden wasn't going to be as extreme as it is today. I really don't believe that most Anti War Americans really care about the well being of Iraqi people (just liike I don't buy it from those who are pro war), they are more worried about the consequences of a War there will have on them and our nation as a whole...despite what BS they proffess to believe.

We didn't overthrow Hussien's regime because we had spent millions if not billions on research on that SOB and overthrowing him would mean some other SOB we couldn't predict would take the reins. That's something we couldn't allow.

You missed my point completely. You assume that I should know what the U.S was doing in 98 simply because it's the U.S... do you know what Canada was doing in 98? Probably not, so how can you expect the same from others.
As a side.. I don't really give a sh!t whether anyone knows what Canada is up to. I would like to note that we do supply the U.S with most of it's depleted uranium. bombs away.

Somehow I really doubt it.

Gee, maybe because it was a direct attack on Iraq by the US?

Geeez.........you ought to start reading some history before spouting. We completely ARMED Hussein in the 80's so he could have a little fun with Iran........that little 7 year war Iraq had with Iran? Remember that? We armed and supported Hussein because we were sorta pissed at Iran, for what escapes me. ;)

Now, we are battling our own creation. Imagine that.......guess this has never happened before.

The fact we armed Saddam isn't going to be argued. Much like we funded Osama.

However that going to the quote. Your enemy's enemy is your friend.
We are probably funding someone right now that 20-30 year down the
road will be our enemy.

In 1991, UN mandate was to remove Iraqis from Kuwait, had nothing to do with removing Saddam. I really would of liked to have continued on and gotten rid of Saddam.
Those of us who were in Persian Gulf during Desert Storm were asking exact samething.

In 1998, Clinton failed miserably by lobbing Tomahawks at Iraq because Saddam failed to allow UNSCOM Inspectors to do their job and his popularity was dwindling because
of his mess with Lewinski.

And yes, Bush Sr screwed up big time by promising to support Kurds if Kurds took active role to overthrow Saddam,
which Kurds actively engaged Iraqis thinking that Bush Sr administrative would provide manpower and weapons,
but Bush Sr didn't didn't deliver as he promised which caused untold number of Kurd's death.
