I have a nice statue in front of my house. It's publicly accessible. Does that mean that it's there for someone to take?

Now, I also have picture hosted on a web server where I pay for the bandwidth and the storage space. I use the web space to host pictures for my own personal purposes and SPECIFIC transactions. Unfortunately, it's also publicly accessible.

Well, the picture was not "taken" from your server...it is still there and serving it's purpose. If someone took your statue, it would be gone.

Exactly! The statue is publicly accessible but it is not for people to take. Same thing with bandwidth. Someone paid for it and it belongs to them EVEN if it's publicly accessible.

Yes. It is perfectly legal for someone to take free drinking water home with them for use outside of the originally intended context. Whether you pay to provide the drinking water or not is irrelevant because you provided it for free with no restrictions.

No, how about this:

You have an electrical outlet at the front of your store. It's publicly accessible. Passerbys on the sidewalk can reach it. Does this give them the right to run a long extension cord and plug their appliances into your outlet?

What this comes down to is personal property rights. The bandwidth belongs to someone. They paid for it.

Dear David;

If I have not heard from you within 24hrs (read 10pm Tuesday night) I will leave negative feedback on the basis of not receiving a response from the seller.

Your auction CLEARLY states that the projectors are "Buy one get one free!!!"

The bottom of the pages ALSO states:
"Seller assumes all responsibility for listing this item."

I look forward to hearing from you by 10pm tomorrow night.

Hi, Jacob:

Let's not waste time. If you want to buy, pay and I will sent you one.

Are you the one who changed the auction?

David;

To conclude this;

If you are going to back out of your side of the deal, leave me a positive feedback and I will do the same in return.

If you are going to honor your deal then send me the totals.

no, all this trouble so that some other person doesn't give him a huge hassle over not sending two projectors, leading into neg feedbacks for everyone.

Ask him how you would change the auction. When he talks about the pic, you can mention something about not stealing bandwith - good way to make him realize whats up without you getting "caught."

Has it occured to anyone that se7enty7 is attempting to steal from that seller? One link to this thread would be proof of that.

And as far as "stealing" bandwidth is concerned, there are several ways to prevent hotlinking of your photos if your bandwidth is being used without your authorization. Welcome to the internet.

Stealing?!?!? The ad said, " Buy one Get one Free"....how is that stealing?

Let me guess, you're going to direct the guy to this thread huh.

Hell no, I ain't no stool pidgeon.

And maybe you didn't read this thread... se7enty7 clearly knows it was for one and only bid on it to try and see if he could screw this seller. Funny, yes. Cool, no not really.

the problem is some geek here tipped off the auction guy and they explained what happened and what was going to be attempted.

The cat is out of the bag so the only thing left is to neg and take the neg back...however I dont think se7enty7 is going to risk that :(

I am going to get my own neg in a few days when I neg this one buyer that's been going back and forth with me for weeks now over a $1 sale.

It will be my first retailatory I got...I have left quite a few negatives though for others....mostly NARU'd now.

How did you find this out?

What part? that the seller got contacted is almost a given...., about my NARU'D bidders that shows up (not a registered user).

In hot deals forums you constantly have people 'warning' sellers.
