Ok, yesterday... an associate that works at the helpdesk came around showing people X-men 2 on DVD-R and is selling it.

Now, selling something that you got for free is just not right. I should turn him in to the HR. Then again, maybe I should mind my own business.

What would you guys do?

Well, for one, he's probably using that crappy telesync as source. :p

Secondly, don't buy it, don't touch it, nothing. It's at work - this is stupid. Kick him in the junk and tell him to stop bothering you.

Yeah, he should be giving that away for free! Or at most the cost of the DVD-R.

tell to his face that he is a dumbass for breaking the law, and an even bigger dumbass to break the law at work

also consider what the reprocussions would be to you if he gets caught and your supervisor finds out that you knew what was going on. you probably ought just report it to HR.

Oooh. Yeah. Ouch. File some manner of report just so you're in the clear.

Oh, and kick his ass for wasting good DVD-Rs on a cam. If he's got nothing better to do, have him send them to me so I can burn my DV.

If I do have copies of stuff....which I may not...;)...I only give them to my family and they in return often just pay for the cost of the CD-R.

Tell him that you want a free copy otherwise you're turning him in...LOL :Q

just say something like, "oh, man! i wouldn't sell that sort of thing at work. if you get caught by the security camera over there, you'll lose your job. is it really worth it?". you'll instantly be his best friend at work heh

I'd find a way to contact the producers of the movie and let them know someone is selling a bootleg copy. Could be funny to see what happens.

Centropy released a decent version of the film. It's watchable and better than a lot that get released.

However, doing that at work is stupid. Selling those copies is dumb. What a loser. He had to walk around selling it to look cool...so people say, "Wha, wha, what? You can't have that." Then he feels all cool inside when it actually is X-2.

I'd leave him alone. If someone asks if you knew about it, say "I've been working...I'm not a babysitter."

Seriously, this guy is a loser. Your company should fire him for being a complete loser.

I admit I download movies here and there, but I've never once sold them or even thought about it. If nothing else, give them away to friends. Charge them a $1 or $2 for the DVD-R at most (and nothing for CDRs they are so dirt cheap nowdays).

He's a grade A loser.

They would have a hard time firing just shell21 since this guy is selling it to coworkers. They would either have to fire a whole lote more people or just not be stupid and fire the guy selling the movie if they cared that much.

Agreed, firing would probably be unlikely, but um, how about no raise, promotion, or a 'lateral transfer' to some sh1thole job... it all depends on the organizational culture that is in place at Shelly21's work. If its laid back, then i wouldn't worry about as much, but if it is an uptight place, then action is called for. The point is that it COULD hurt him.
