my baby's hurt. not too badly...but she's hurtin!!
Friday night, coming back from a friends house. Comin around a blind left curve, a couple of deer popped out in front of me. As soon as I saw them, i pulled the wheel even more to the left and hit the brakes. A combination of the wet roads, and me cutting the wheel while braking, caused my back to swing out. Went into a fishtail and 180ed across to the other side of the road. Hit the guardrail with my passenger front first...then my passenger rear.

Looks to be just bumper damage. But wont know for sure until the body shop takes a look at it. Now I have a couple questions for you guys.

If body shop decides that bumper will have to be replaced, I would like to get an aftermarket bumper (for the front atleast). How would that work with insurance? I mean, will they give me a check (for the body shop's appraised amount) and I add on whatever and get the r32 bumper and have the body shop paint it?

Pics

rear damage
right headlight tab cracked - lights work fine
front damage
little bit of sheet metal damage
closeup of rear
rubstrip damage
not so german fitment
i dunno if the hood is off or the grill is. what u guys think?
screws ripped out of place
rear
place of accident
guardrail that saved me from going into the ditch

Your linking sucks and you ALWAYS hit the deer if you have full coverage. Deer strike = act of "god." Swerving to miss a deer and hitting a guard rail = loss of driver control. This is in the eyes of ins.

Wow man, glad you're okay. Spinnin out on a windy road isn't fun. I've done it being stupid and nearly fell off a huge cliff.

fixed the links b4 u posted. HAH! eat it :p jk
i think i did the right thing by not hitting the deer. hitting a deer might have left my car undriveable. atleast this way its just cosmetic damage (i hope)

But if you claim it on ins. it will be an at-fault accident, meaning rates coluld be affected. A comprehensive claim does not affect rates.

hitting a deer with that car would probably mean the whole front end of that car being demolished...
id say good job on missing the deer. also you can just claim the insurance $ to repair your bumper then take that $ and go to a different shop to put on an aftermarket bumper.

dang, Too bad about your little girl getting hurt. Hope she recovers fast. There is nothing worse than having a hurt child :(

You can get appriasals from body shops, then do the repairs yourself and pocket the rest (at least you used to could do that)
That is a good looking little car. A car like that is perfect nowdays, with the gas prices and all.

If he would have hit the deer, the deer could have went through the windshield, and still lived. By missing the deer he possibly saved his life and the life of his daughter. Now, if it was a rabbit? heh, run it down, but a deer is way to big to mess with in a little car.

You should leave it like it is, and get a sticker that says, "Got Drift?"

yea I still dont know if I will involve ins about this. I mean I already filed a claim and they told me to go to one of their body shops to get it appraised. If it turns out to be just cosmetic damage, and is under $2K, I will pay it out of my own pocket. But any more, and I will need ins' help.

After their body shop appraises it, its not too late to take insurance out of the process, right?

thanks for your concern man. But I dont have a real child. my baby is my car :p
and i agree with you. im glad i missed the deer. couldve been a lot worse. . actually, it couldve been a lot worse. when my back swung out to the right, i didnt turn the wheel to the right to correct myself. I guess I froze. This caused me to crossover to the other side and hit the guard rail. But this actually worked out better for me. I had a friend following me who also lost control when the deer popped out. As I was in mid-fishtail, he passed to my right missing me by a foot. Had I corrected myself, he might have hit me...causing sheet metal damage

For some reason the title misleading me into thinking a child was hurt gets me upset and annoyed.

HAHAH. i was actually thinking along the same lines. I had to drive to the mall to get my mom a her present today. On the way, I was thinking what it would be like if i just left it as it is and put on a sticker that says "Battle wounds" with an arrow pointing to it. But I like your "Got Drift" better :p

not too much as there's never enough money.
So far I have CAI, joed modded head lights, DDE Angel eyes, painted valences, wheels you see (18x8 OZ Superleggera), Koni adjustable shocks with Neuspeed race springs, neuspeed 28mm rear sway bar, stainless steel brake lines, upgraded brake pads and rotors, and Milltek catback exhaust. Was gonna get lightweight underdrive pulleys...but people here convinced me otherwise
