A-Rod Tested Positive for Roids in 2003

Just came out on CNN & SI right now. Premier player in his prime tested positive a few years ago. Interesting that it is coming out right now.

That and his tendency to choke have really marred his career. As a Mariners fan, I couldn't be more happy.

I'm getting sick of hearing about roids.

Just test Everyone once a month and start removing everyone who uses and then when ratings take a dive let them back in..... roids are here to stay.

Funny how the more we hear the more Jose Canseco looks better.

But any records/stats that Arod has should be thrown out. Same for him as same for Bonds, MsGuire, etc... And no HoF for any of them as well.

I think it is interesting that A-Rod got into the roids thing at a relatively young career and age. Not like Bonds or Canseco who probably - in my amateur opinion - seem to have started up the roids to maintain the longevity of their career.

Your kids just aren't going to have a athletic career in MLB without the juice...simple as that.

The stuff Arod took was not a growth as in making hugh muscles. It was to make strong lean muscle growth. That is why he puts up all round stats but does not belt out 70+ Hr?s. With him not bloating up like Bonds and McGuire types it makes him look less guilty while raking in the cash.

I wonder if the yankees have a out clause in their contract. I am sure if this builds up and it is let out by the court, they will do something.

I don't agree with steroid use in professional sports.. But, I understand. If you have all of this wonderful talent and you do a pretty good job. Then, all of these people who aren't naturally as good as you start doing better due to steroids. You probably feel pressured to start taking them as well.

From what I can tell. MLB started to be an arms race in the terms of steriod use. When you have 5% of your fellow players doping and most of them being your heavy hitters. What are you going to do to compete?

It was all sad and MLB practically did nothing until 2004 to combat the rampant use among it's players.

Exactly. Most to all of them take performance enhancers. It's just a question of whether they're legal or not.

Well, if JC Romero got a 50 game ban, I hope MLB doesn't play favorites and does the same for this guy.

Arod tested positive before the MLB began levying penalties/suspensions (2006)

JC Romero tested positive in Sept. '08

Heh, yet another failure of the physique test. Maybe we can bury that for good now. He was one of the guys who got a pass for all these years because he wasn't "bulky," and not even exceptionally low bodyfat.

Who's next from the "he's not big and bulky, he plays the game the right way, he would never do that" group to go down in flames -- Griffey? Jeter? David Eckstein? 😛

Arod has been constantly paraded as an example of a "clean" player, I never read him disagree with that description.

Why is this breaking nearly 6 years after the fact?

Because the union didn't destroy the test results, and they are now being made public?

B/c his positive test results only leaked out today. And the whole time he has denied ever using steroids or needing performance enhancing drugs.

There was hope that he might actually be clean.

I doubt that the union was trying to extort money from those on the list they could have destroyed but didn't and now its being leaked.
