Bootable CD>floppy

<sigh> because there is not one single functioning floppy drive in this house, and i don't feel like driving up to the cabin to get one, i've had to download SATA drivers + nLite (because i don't feel like doing it manually) so that i can slipstream the drivers onto the install media.

I'm talkign a fresh system with a fresh XP disk...windows still needs a floppy for divers

The SATA on most boards nowadays is native, and usually doesn't need special drivers installed since the board emulates them as IDE for the XP install. The boards that usually need the drivers, are older ones with SATA provided by a onboard PCI controller like the Promise or SI, or if you are using a PCI RAID/IDE card. In that case, it's easy to just add them to your XP CD so it loads them automatically without a floppy.

My CCS-300 (S100 based LOL) system had a pair of eight inch floppy drives. Booted off 1. (CP/M)

My age is starting to show hehe.

Cheers!

they have their uses every once and a while. mem test, etc, but you can always find a way around it. havent used a floppy in my new builds. but i like that floppy/card reader
