No, you don't steal text verbatim or distinct images. You steal ideas. It is a big deal if the owner cares - you don't make that decision for them.

Word for Word taken from my site. I wrote that and did not borrow any lines or etc. Even the part where I say:
"ATI says the HDTV adapter is out of stock for my card. Where else can I get one?
The only other place I know of to get one is from eBay.com . ATI Is the only place to carry these adapters new."

The only problem I see is that you jump to say you will take legal action in the email. Pulling that card right off is like saying "I'm bluffing" or "I'm 10 years old."

Don't say it unless you have both the means and desire to follow through with it, and certainly don't say it unless you have good grounds to say it.

I hope you have proof of when you created those documents and when it was published on your site. Although the use of the first person should be in your favor since there is no logical reason a retail site would do that.

I tend to agree that no site SELLING the adapter would mention buying it on E-bay as the only place they know of to get it if ATi is out of stock. Didn't they even proof read this before stealing it?

and it does state on ATI's web site that the adapter is not availible to retailes and is limited for sale to end users

Don't forget to print and save a soft copy of the pages in questions. also do not "upload/edit" your content as your server will have a time stamp on when the file was created/modifited.

I don't think a timestamp is worth anything; it's easily falsefied. You could print the page and mail it to yourself though (don't open it when you receive it). The postmark will certify the date. Or you can go down to your local courthouse and get it entered into the public record for $5.

Anyway, I doubt anyone would go to court over something this minor, so proof prolly isn't a big issue.

Mailing a CD of your web site to yourself once a year is probably a good way to protect yourself for the future though.

well I sent them an e-mail and never heard anything back....

BUT

they have removed the content and now have the wrong item in the pictures...they obviously have no Idea what they are doing there....

Wouldn't be suprised if the guys doing the web pages didn't know what they were selling. If you're being contracted to update a site like that, would you take the time to find out what each item is?
