apparently my roommate called 1800 (something go army) for a free video and t-shirt a while back and today..they knocked on my door asking if shes was home and if she was still interested in enlisting...from what ive heard, this is very common...any one else encounter something like this..she just wanted a "freebie"
 
well now that you said that if you call that number you get a man in uniform at your door, LordJezo should be on the phone dialing right about now

just tell him you wanted the free stuff and weren't actually interested, they get mad, go home and piss and moan about you. I'm physically fit and where my hair short cropped (24 and mostly grey already, short hair cuts hide the grey on me pretty well), and those guys are always pestering me everywhere I go. (a couple of them even bugged me while I was pale, sick, and in line at wal-mart's pharmacy once.)
 
If they are pestering you, just tell them you are working on homework and you have to let them go. Then close the door. Easy as that. Show any intrest and they will be on your like buzzards. If they came for your roommate, then tell them they are more than welcome to leave some information and you will be sure to pass it along, but that you must get back to work.
 
let them know about your severe asthma and they'll never bother you again! (seriously).

On a seperate note, i'm in the National Guard and i think everybody should be required to serve at least 2 years for their country to appreciate what we do for you 🙂

i think if i didnt have the opptunities i have had...i would definitely serve....its a great way if i didnt have anything to do...
 
of course you need to be a citizen and the lowest pay is 1100. after 4 months the lowest pay is 1200 and pretty much everybody should be at 1350 after a year to year and a half. there are monthly bonuses for being in the line of fire and things of that nature as well. also if you are not living in a barracks you get a housing allowance which is quite resonable and tax free.

I don't think you have to be a citizen. I'm pretty sure some soldiers that died in Iraq were post-humously granted citizenship.

dont forget the top of the line health care....and all those beneifits youll get when you get out of the service too..hella discounts for you and yours on tuitions...home insurance etc...
 
One called me the other day and because of a medication I have to take, he said I couldn't join even if I wanted to. In a way I'm saddened.

Despite what most people say they think about serving, I think for the vast majority of people (regardless of what country they hail from) military service is a mark of pride and something usually considered worthwhile and heroic.
 
You absolutly do not have to be a citizen to be in the military, in fact they try and recrut non citizens using the rule that 2 years in the military will cover the waiting period for citizenship.
