A really dumb question on RC5

I have already signed up (for example using email a@a.com) and set up one client on my machine.

If I have a second machine and I want to setup another client there, is it that I just install the client, and then enter the same email (a@a.com)? And all the packages I have done will be under my account?

I don't have to do all the password, join team (oh, sure I am under Team AnandTech) thing again right?

Thanks guys, and I am helping now too!

Once you're setup, you can use the same eMail on thousands of machines if you want. No further work needed. Not a dumb question, BTW. It was one of zillions I asked when I first started.😀

you're completely right on both accounts. No fears, I'm still really dumb 😉

[EDIT]/me smacks Russ for being too fast 😛

thanks for the lightning speed reply! 🙂

now all my machines will start the helping the team!!!

btw, how many members we have now?

active, or overall? Overall I think its over 2500, but active, is closer to about 750 (I'm taking into cosideration all the mini-teams, and making a guess based upon the ~650 addresses that submit daily, and the fact that not all members submit every day).

oh wow, that's not too bad. Is cracking RC5 a more CPU intensive thing or memory intensive??? Wondering if I should get more RAM or get a faster CPU.

RC5 cracking is definitely more CPU intensive 🙂. See, while you are using your computer, you aren't utilizing your processor. The client (the neato cow) uses the rest of your CPU (the amount that you aren't using) so that your CPU will be used 100%. It does this with little or in most circumstances NO effects on your puter's performance 🙂. Rmember, it only used from about 1-2MB of RAM at the most 😀. The best way to get results, is to get as many FAST computers doing it! But hey, just get all the computers you can!! I even have original Pentiums cracking for me 😱. Hope we were a help for you 🙂.

Check out the Distributed Computing Speedguide at www.Teamanandtech.com.

Later man, have fun with this!! Don't worry, addiction to crack is now normal for you, and its OK too 🙂.

Hey rominl, welcome to the Team! : ) Keep on asking as you come up with questions... I remember my first question was "Can I play games with the client running?" (answer, "yes, it doesn't crack much when you're gaming, but it won't interfere either.&quot😉

yup yup, most likely I will have at least 4 machines cracking. thought they are not all GHz machines, I think they should help 🙂

WELCOME to the TeAm rominl! 😎

Nice herd you've got "grazing" with four machine already! 😉

I hope you'll enjoy working with us and hanging out here in the DC forums, maybe you'd like to talk to us in our own IRC channel on our OWN IRC server too?!? If so go here: server: irc.teamanandtech.com port: 6667 channel: #teamanandtech

Welcome rominl! Did you setup your client to flush to the RR?

TwoFace! You're on! But there's no sight of you in IRC.

Thanks for the words guys 🙂 I will work hard to crack more, coz' I want TA to win!! YEAH!!!

Though I have quite some machines, I am not in front of the computer that often though. When I am in front of the machines, I have something to do (if time allows you guys will know why later 😉) But I will definitely come to you guys when I have questions (like now...)

When I d/l the client, it says it is for win95/98/NT. Will it work on winme and win2k as well? Obviously that's the OSes I am using.... My guess is they are ok, but want to confirm first...

My machines are idle most of the time and they are on 24/7... 🙂🙂

BTW, what is RR??!?!?! I have to flush it?!??! I notice that it says something in the outbuffer. Won't it flush itself by sending stuff back to dnet?

rominl:

The client will definitly work on win2k (I know since I'm using it) and I've never heard anything about it not working on winMe ... so just go for it 😉

oh and the RR is our Round Robin of pproxies... this will allow you to check your stats at Our TeAm pages 😎

The addy to put in your client to flush using the RR is: proxy.teamanandtech.com, this will work for all ordinary clients if you need access to a special port to fetch/flush try proxy23.teamanandtech.com or proxy80.teamanandtech.com both of these are the same kinda stuff whith pproxies accepting connections at port 23 and port 80 respectively.

Hope this helps some😉
