A (real) monkey grabbed my hand and its nails made me bleed.

Am in India, and a real dancing monkey grabbed my hand and tried to bite me and I pulled my hand away.
it ran after me and grabbed my hand and its nails made a tiny hole in my skin and a little blood came out.
I immediately stuck hand sanitizer on the "wound."
Will I get rabies?
Or atleast, should I get a doctor to check it?

You might have monkeypox or green monkey disease. Google them for more information and how to determine if you are infected and what the next steps should be.

In the time you wait for responses the rabies virus are making their way to your brain. Soon you wont understand the responses in this thread. I'm so very sorry.

It was my right-hand Ring finger.
Guess im never getting married if I get it cut off.
And, its 4 days till im back in NJ.
Hope I dont die mid-flight!

Well. Will a scratch that punctured the skin by its nail give me any diseases?
It didnt bite me. And it wasnt foaming at the mouth. It was doing somersaults and dancing to music. It was a street pedlar's show monkey.

Hahah that monkey was festering with disease. 'Somersaults' and 'dancing to music' was just the monkey writhing in agony. It was begging you to kill it, but you failed.

You're worried about rabies? You've been bitten by a monkey lieutenant. I'd be more worried about the fact you're going to turn into a zombie-like half-man/half-monkey. You need to find and kill the monkey king for the curse to be broken. You'll be celebrated as a hero for freeing all the enslaved monkey-people, and lifting their curse.

You'll need to make a pilgrimage to Karnataka and pray at the statue of Hanuman. The monkey king has betrayed his devotion to his god, and must be punished. Hanuman will come to you in your dreams and reveal the tools you'll need to exploit the monkey king's weakness. One tool will be a map to a sherpa elder's hut in the Himalayas. Legend says, in his youth, this elder happened upon a secret entrance to a city carved right out of the mountain during one of his expeditions. The fortress of the monkey king lies within this mountain-monkey-metropolis. Beware, the monkey king has spies and assassins everywhere. Be quick, for the turn will complete on the full-moon day of Chaitra (April) at sunrise, the celebrated birth of Hanuman. After you turn, you'll lose all will and be one of the enslaved, forever cursed to the service of the monkey-king. Good luck on your quest, it will be long, difficult and dangerous.

Its not "rabies" its herpes. That shit will kill you. My grad work was with non-human primates (macaques) and those fuckers carry a nasty strain of herpes that will kill you if you contract it. Basically, *all* those animals carry it. You are fucked. Im being *very* serious here.

edited for emphasis.

On one hand, you should get it checked out considering it's a monkey that can probably pass over diseases. If a racoon can pass stuff on, I'd be even more worried about a monkey. On the otherhand, how much do you trust Indian healthcare?

Good luck... I'll cross my imaginary fingers for you. One more reason for me to not want domesticated monkes.
