First of all, Happy Turkey day everyone! :)

I just have a quick troubleshooting question. The CDRom is not detected under Windows XP on my brother's PC. Here are several symptoms:

1. There's no CD rom drive showing under My Computer
2. Under Devide Manager, there's an exclamation point on the CDrom saying the drivers couldn't be loaded. (Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
3. I've already tried unstalling/reinstalling the drivers with rebooting but the SAME pattern occurs
4. The CDrom IS detected under BIOS without any problems. All the wiring is intact as well since the case was never opened.
5. No virus.

Can you guys help me out? Thanks!
Sorry about posting this OT, I really want to fix this before turkey fest

my lil brother had this issue on his system with a DVD-ROM... turns out it was the IDE port going flaky... he had to RMA the board..

Did this just happen out of nowhere or did you just install the drive, reformat, etc.

Definitely sounds like a controller issue. I'd remove all your IDE controller devices from device manager, reboot and let it re-detect. I've seen that fix the problem you're experiencing.

I just did it and still f*cking same problem occurs. I even tried connecting the damn CDrom to a different IDE cable and rebooting... STILL NO LUCK

What is wrong with this? It just happened out of the blue one day.. please help.
