I don't think theres much you can do about AIM.

But you can't play on b.net? Warcraft III works perfectly fine through a router. If you want to host a game, then you just forward 4000, and 6112-6119.

like i said, i think router got fuct up during firmware update.. it used to work fine on bnet without even having to deal with forwading stuff... it worked fine right out of the box...

read thru dlink's site and see if there's some speacial procedure to bypass the login. if not - then your only way to know is to buy another one and temporarily use it while you warranty this one.

Alright, going to bed... but not before I say... attempt to upgrade the firmware AGAIN... typically it'll ask for your router's IP (enter 192.168.0.1)... if it attempts to upgrade and interacts with your router... you'll know the IP is correct... thus making the culprit the router as well... at which point you should let it complete, then turn the thing off for a while, and give it one last go through IE before you return the thing.

Get a Linksys. I haven't had a problem with mine yet. :)

can't upgrade firmware unless i enter the router's ip becasue the firmware is a .bin file and updating is possible by entering into the settings and pointing the .bin file in the system.

oh the paradox... i can't update because i can't get into the settings.. i cannot get into the settings because i updated... blah.. im going to bed too.

392.x.x.x is not a valid IP address anyway.

And I know AIM file transfer is "iffy" at best... do you have a DMZ setting (if you can even get to it) ?

it's 192.168.0.1 and doesn't work anymore after i updated the firmware.. just goes to yahoo search results now.. ugh... what happened? did i screw up the router by updating it?

WTF? you type that IP in IE, and it goes to Yahoo now? Sounds kind of like a HOSTS file issue almost..

What about outside your LAN ? I remember AIM has a checkbox that you can select if you have a problem with file transfers. Didn't have much luck with that either, but for some, that may solve the issue.

if its outside the lan you gotta pass it through your router. once you do that it works fine

Linksys routers work the same way. It comes with an EXE file that lets your upgrade your firmware right ? Run that exe (or whatever upgrade program DLink uses, and type your 192.168.0.1 IP address.. you shouldn't need to get into your router settings for this. Then point to your BIN file and see if it attempts to communicate with your router with the IP you used.
