Alright, Ive got a question for you.

Earlier today I was driving down the road, long story short this prick got pissed at me for letting some people in while traffic was slowed to a crawl. I don't think he was watching closely and almost hit me. After that he begin to throw sh!t at my car (he missed though, cause he's a fricken loser). When we got back onto a 3 way road he was tail gating me for a minute (which I expected) and then he got along side of me, and then swerved right in front of me. I nearly hit him, but since i expected that as well was able to break in time. I wrote down his drivers license #, and wanted to know if I call is there anything that can really be done about this, or would I be wasting my time?

And to everyone else who is going to comment, yes I know I should have stopped the car, got out, and whooped the living sh!t outta that punk. But I figured not start any trouble.

Also one other theoretical question. When he swerved in front of me part of me wanted to speed up and ram him. Only reason I didn't is cause my car is nice, and his was a POS. But if I had hit him and ran us both off the road could I had sued him for the accident and more?

At best they might just send an officer to talk to him about it. But you might as well try.

I know that if I was driving a big heavy vehicle I would have ran his ass off the road

Edit: Why don't you call the police station and ask

If you're in cali, you coulda called up the police/dmv, I forgot which, but they'll call him in and talk to him about it. Nothing really with no proof, but it'll waste his time.

You can also file a complaint against him...but do remember its your word against his. Nothing will come of it simply because you have no witnesses...they might visit him, and it might scare him...but probably no offical action will be taken.

You could have sued him, but you would probably lose. Seeing as how you can prevent the wreck and everything else from occuring, your case would stand on shaky ground.

You realize there is ONE police officer on this forum?

Some of us know the law better than others...personally, it would be great to have a lawyer or Judge answer all these questions.

Well how could they actually prove I could have prevented the wreck? I was driving the speed limit and obeying the laws when he swerved in front of me. Not reacting quick enough is not my fault, he shouldn't have done what he did. He caused it. Its not my job to act like Al Unser Jr. to prevent wrecks is it?

And how would you have proved that you didn't speed up? Look, there would be a certain angel of impact had he swirved and hit you...you RAMMING him from behind would look very different. Him braking suddenly would look different than you hitting him. Again, shaky ground.

Well what happened was he swerved in front of me and then hit his breaks. Whats the difference between me not reacting fast enough to break, or me just not breaking because I wanted to hit him?

Nothing in that case...but from what I understood, you would have had to sped up. I understand your feelings on it, as many asshats are on the road...but nothing good could have come of it in the end.

I agree. So now Im just trying to figure out if its even worth it to waste time to call the cops, or should I just forget it.

you should just do a brake test on his @ss, then it'd be his problem for the crash

and if you're in the city (NY to be exact), no, the cops won't care.
