When using the knife you spread some on then you use it again putting crumbs from the knife on the butter or into the margarine.

I have a butter dish, and you just like, slice some butter off and put it on the toast and then spread it in. I guess this is more an issue if you buy butter in a bowl products.

Yes, it bothers her, so I learned to take plenty of butter with the first swipe of the knife so I didn't have to go back for more.
