EDITED FOR ZIM: Are the dragsters still accelerating in the same direction as their displacement at the moment immediately before they cross the finish line?

As soon as they cross the "finish line," they cut back on the throttle and deploy the chute, thus their "acceleration" is decreasing :)

Drag racing (and racing in general) should be postponed due to high gas prices. I mean imagine if you would - the number of hungry chinese babies that could be transferred to a care facility via fuel efficient minivans - with all the fuel those not so funny - funny cars use!

The chart says 2,200 fathoms of sarchasm on that one.

However if you want to get technical about it, yes resources are indeed used that depend on petroleum products in all sorts of racing from outhouse racing in canada (yes that's for real) to top fuel stuff.

Wow you guys tripped again! :p

Yes it's quite pathetic what you get sucked into watching just because it's in HD.

It was actually funny seeing that.
