Will i be able to use a 6600gt or 6800GS apg without it bottlenecking with the cpu?
My other specs are:
ASUS K8U-X mobo
1 GB corsair value select PC3200
450 PSU

I would like to play bf2 and other new games like the elder scrolls oblivion on low-med settings. Thanks in advance!

A Sempron 2800+ should not be a bottleneck for a 6600GT or a 6800GS at stock speed.

Also, it depends if you plan to overclock. My X800GTO2, unlocked (16 pipes) and overclocked to X850XT speeds is not bottlenecked by my Semprom 2800+, which I have overclocked to 2.4 GHz. (It will overclock to 2.6 GHz, but I feel better running it at 2.4 GHz.).

I think the 2800+ is the best deal if you overclock. If your not going to overclock, then the Sempron 3100+ may be better, although your paying 30% more for only a 12% performance gain. You can at LEAST get a Sempron 2800+ to run at 2.0 GHz, which is the speed of the Sempron 3400+.

If you followed the scaling, my Sempron would be called a 4000+. The 2800+ is great for overclockers.

Here's a good link, showing cpu's paired with a NVIDIA Geforce 6800 GT (Reference board):

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/21/...her_of_all_cpu_charts_2005/page29.html

The cpu does make a difference, but not a huge effect. If you extract the performance of the Semprons with 256K Cahce you get:

CPU.......Speed.....fps
............(GHz)
2500+...1.4........126.9
2800+...1.6........140
3100+...1.8........151.6
3400+...2.0........162.7

Projected:
3700+...2.2........ 174
4000+...2.4.........186

That would put a Sempon 2800+ overclocked to 2.4 Ghz to be equal to a Venice Athlon 3500+.

A decent Sempron 2800+ should do 2.4ghz, while some of the better ones out there can breach 2.6, making them very nice budget chips. It should be good enough for a 6600GT, although I'd prefer an overclocked sempron over a stock sempron 2800+ with that rig.
