I have a seasonic s12 380 watt on my new computer. My specs is AMD 3000+ venice core, epox nf4 ultra, 1gig ocz value, 160 g pata seagate and gigabyte x800xl. The problem is when i install Wow update it random reboot ( it is stop today) and every time it reboot, the BSOD come on for about 4 secs ( not enough to read what it said).

So i wonder is that psu too low for my system ? I also download memtest now to test my memory stick ( i put them on the 1 2 slot near the cpu on the motherboard). Also, for some reason my monitor when it is boot just come up with the wallpaper only ( the start menu , taskbar, and the shortcut just come up a bit, then i have "cli.exe has an error, hit ok" and then everything is gone). Thank you for any replies.

What's the amperage on the 12V rail for that PSU?

FYI, caivoma, the Antec Truepower 380W is superior to a generic 500W, the amperage on the +12v is very important.

However your PSU should not be stressed so much just by updating a game, i am more inclined to think you have a winows problem.

do you get BSODs while running any other programs?

Seasonic is a fine PS and the 380W you have should be able to handle your system. It may be that the PS is nearing the end of its life cycle. The problems you have sounds like an underpowerd PS in your system, but then again badly written software (doesn't necessarily mean the WOW update) can screw with Windows. You have two choices: one, reinstall Windows and two, upgrade the PS. Hopefully you backed up your data.

I like the information in the article and recommendations can be difficult when the target audience's needs are not known. At least they "Caution" the Powmax and provide a comment "a very robust PSU with the flexibility of modular cabling " for the Ultra X-Connect. I still think it is an excellent source of information but you are correct in noticing the need to mention to stay away from those two PSU's.

I read that, but why is it recommended if it says caution? You might as well recommend any generic POS and just say "This PSU might blow and take your components along with it"

Kensai: forgive me cause i am a noob, how do i find out the 12V rail volatage ? it said :
+12v1 10A, +12v2 15A, -12V 0.8A on the box.
ixelion: it used to crashed when i have my old hard drive but when i bought a new one yesterday, it is only crashed when i run WOW update.
Also, everything in my system is brandnew and only Wow update crashed it ( 3 times), but today i was able to finish my update without any crashing.
So the only problem now is there nothing but the wall paper itself on my computer after boot( the start button, the task bar and the shortcuts on my desktop appeared then disappear after the "the cli.exe has an error...")

I have an old version of Window that doesnt have service pack 1 on . I download the express 1a but it required internet connection to finish. The nforce drivers required SP1 in order for me to install it. I was able bypass this by downloaded the SP2 on a CD. Also running memtest and there no errors detected in 1hr 21mins so far.
Thank you for all the help guys.

Edited for grammar

The bolded text is the amperage of your 12V rails. The combined amperage is what I was looking for. It's at 25A which is more than enough for your system.

Agreed. I stay far, far away from those two.

I have no clue. Ask the writer of the article, not me. ;)

Just remember that just because the combines amperage of both rails is a certain number doesn't mean much. For example if there is only 2A for the CPU and 36A for everything else, the combined amperage is 38A. By todays standards that is not bad (if it can actually supply that), however with such little for the CPU it wouldn't run.

Now obviously there wouldn't be a PSU with such ratings, but it gets the point across ;)
