A question about mechanical pencils

Hmm, I haven't used a mechanical pencil in years.
Pretty much all erasers that are fixed on the pencil suck. They smudge, turn harder than a rock and before you know it your paper looks like swiss cheese.

Stand-alone after-market eraser ftw.

Honestly, I had the same problem. I found it was the type of mechanical pencil I was buying. (Officemax brand) Once I changed to bic, i've used the same 2 pencils for the past 3 weeks and I still have plenty of eraser left on both.

Pencils are for girls. I use a pen. If I make a mistake, I scratch it out and continue. Don't have the patience to erase and definitely don't care enough to keep things super neat.

math and science homework does not mate well with pens.

In my experience, math homework works better with pens... no erasing ensures you know exactly how you got from one spot to the next. (For higher math atleast)
